Founded in July 2013, Ahimsa is a vegan brand that prioritizes love.

In January 2014, just six months after our founding, we established our own factory. It greatly bothered us to have our products manufactured by a third party that also produced with animal leather.

At this point, when discussing alternatives to animal leather, many speculations and bets arise. After all, replacing animal leather with other materials is a controversial, sensitive, and divisive topic, as even those following a plant-based diet are still hesitant to go further in their choices of substitutes in other products.

Alternative materials to animal leather are numerous and encompass a variety of raw materials, ranging from synthetic laminates, organic options, cork, cotton, PET, and even paper, for example.

However, little is said about the durability of these materials.

For us, the most sustainable product is the one that lasts.

That's why, here at Ahimsa, all our decisions regarding the materials to be used are made following the following requirements:

All materials presented to us are analyzed according to these requirements, and if any of them is compromised, the material is discarded.

Committed to our dedication to preserving the environment, we are in a constant search for increasingly sustainable and innovative alternatives to animal leather and other non-sustainable materials.

In 2023, we are pleased to introduce another option: "Corn Leather"!

This alternative is a smart combination of materials.

Composed of 44% cotton, 8% vegetable oils, 3% vegetable substrates, and 45% polyurethane (PU), it is proof of how nature and technology can come together to create something truly extraordinary, new, sustainable, and durable. All produced without affecting the food supply chain.

The cotton base, along with the other plant sources, ensures a high percentage of renewable materials, while polyurethane provides durability and strength. A perfect combination to, above all, ensure a durable product.
